Review

I don't usually play resource management games, but Roads of Rome II really had me addicted. I managed to get all through the levels in expert mode to play the bonus level. Very difficult. One of the traps I fell into is that I hated cutting down the leafy trees, being an old greenie, it just went against the grain (as it were). So, I had to put those feelings aside to get the bonus level in expert mode!

I really enjoyed this game, and I just loved the graphics, and the little tiny men running around. There was so much attention to detail; the little bags, the little red highlights on the backside of their trousers (very cute), the different trees, and seasonal changes with the mist coming in. Such fine detail was really impressive. 

Good sound effects - that bear was very scary. Whatever an Irish jig has to do with Ancient Rome, I don't know, but somehow, it worked well with the game, but eventually, I had to opt for sound effects only. You certainly need those cues to tell that something was ready to pick up.

This game came bundled in a MacGamestore special, but really, it was awfully addictive, and because of it I won't be playing another one like this in a hurry! It was fun though!.
